Sermon Series: Daughters and Sons

6/1 - 6/16/2019

The old saying “blood is thicker than water” is a misquote. The full saying is, “the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb.” In other words, in Jesus, we redefine what we mean by blood, from shared DNA of our familial ties to the shared covenant of Christ’s blood shed for us. When we follow Jesus, we inherit a new family of fellow believers. We have a place at the table. We find that we belong. We are a child of a living and loving God. The community of faith is what church is all about.

6/1 - 6/2/2019 | Come To The Table

Studies have shown the bonding power of gathering at a table with other people. It is where we show ourselves. It is the beginning point of intimacy, of knowing others and being known by others. Just as King David invited his disabled friend’s son to sit at his table like his own son, when Christ the King invites us to the table, he is inviting us to be fully known as his own son or daughter. As sons and daughters of the King, we don’t have to bring something to the table.
